Cancer Treatment with Stem Cell Therapy
Cancer is a
major cause of death in both grown and progressing countries, and is an
expanding medical hardship worldwide, due to people growth and aging. Cancer is
essentially treated using medical resection, fractionated radiotherapy, and
chemotherapy. However, treatment-related side consequences, off-target effects,
and drug resistance limit the effectiveness of many therapeutic claims.
Moreover, metastatic cancer cells usually cannot be eliminated by common
therapies, and recurrence in these cases is extremely likely. Therefore,
researchers are working to reveal new, effective therapies with low or no
toxicity in normal cells.
Stem cells
have individual properties, such as journey toward cancer cells, the flow of
bioactive factors, and immunosuppression, which support tumor targeting and
circumvent obstacles currently preventing gene therapy strategies. Preclinical
stem cell-based procedures show great promise for use in targeted anti-cancer
therapy treatments. Although, there remain scientific concerns regarding the
use of stem cell therapies, and further studies are needed to confirm
preclinical findings. This article summarizes recent anti-cancer stem cell
therapy studies and identifies advantages, possibilities, and potential
difficulties.
